06 Sep Bhagwant Mann health scare: Punjab CM hospitalised after exhaustion, low heart rate
“Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was brought to Fortis Hospital, Mohali, after he complained of exhaustion and low heart rate. On arrival, his vitals were assessed and have since been stabilised,” the hospital said in a statement.
Mann, 51, is currently under observation. “Our medical team continues to closely monitor his condition,” the statement added.
His pulse rate has improved since admission.
PTI Sources earlier said that Mann had been suffering from viral fever and was taken to hospital when his condition did not improve. Due to Mann’s health condition, the Punjab cabinet meeting scheduled for Friday was also postponed. The meeting was expected to review ongoing relief and rescue efforts, as the state continues to battle severe floods. The death toll rose to 43 on Thursday.
Aam Aadmi Party national convener Arvind Kejriwal visited Mann at his residence on Thursday to check on his health. Kejriwal, who was in Punjab to assess the flood situation, later visited the flood-hit areas in Sultanpur Lodhi in Mann’s absence. Mann was admitted to the same hospital a year ago for a bacterial infection.Meanwhile, Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira questioned why the Punjab CM was not taken to Mohali’s Aam Aadmi Clinic, which the AAP government has promoted as having world-class health facilities.
In a post on X, he wrote, “Firstly my sympathy @BhagwantMann on his deteriorating health if the news is true ! Secondly i urge Arvind Kejriwal to shift him to Aam Aadmi Clinic in Mohali that has world-class health facilities according to Aam Aadmi Party leaders, why shift him to Fortis Hospital? Lastly, i hope this time it’s not a fake health news bcoz last time when Bhagwant Mann was admitted to Fortis it was theatrics & drama ! Last but not the least people don’t expect Fortis Hospital to issue fake health bulletins like they did last time!
