02 May WAVES Bazaar facilitated content partnerships worth over Rs 250 crore: MIB
The MIB believes that this figure is expected to cross more than Rs 400 crore.
The three-day WAVES Bazaar 2025, which kicked off on May 1, hosted participants from 22 countries and included 95 buyers and 224 sellers.
Companies such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, JioStar, Warner Bros Discovery, Zee Entertainment, and YRF were among the key buyers.
WAVES Bazaar featured multiple sections for presenting and selling content. In the Viewing Room and Market Screenings, 115 filmmakers showed their work, with 15 projects chosen as Top Selects.
These filmmakers were recognised by casting director Mukesh Chhabra, with actor Tiger Shroff making an appearance to support one of the titles.From 104 submissions, 16 early-stage projects were selected for live pitching in the Pitch Room. Additionally, the B2B Buyer-Seller Market, held in association with FICCI, enabled focused meetings and discussions across media sectors.Several major deals and announcements were made on May 2. Khidki Gaon, one of the Top Selects, secured a post-production and VFX agreement with the Asian Cinema Fund, a program under the Busan International Film Festival.
Broadvision Perspectives (India) and Fabrique d’Images Group (Europe) announced a €30 million co-production agreement for four animated films, signed by Sriram Chandrasekaran and Mark Mertens.
Amanda Groom of The Bridge (UK) and Munjal Shroff of Graphiti Studios (India) signed an MoU to develop a series exploring India’s colonial past.
TV Asahi launched the “Shin chan India Year” initiative, announcing two theatrical releases in 2025 and a series of events in India and Japan to engage fans.
