Indices: Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 0.19%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a negative note on Tuesday.

Shares of Persistent Systems Ltd.(up 1.52 per cent), HCL Technologies Ltd.(up 0.88 per cent), Tech Mahindra Ltd.(up 0.55 per cent) and L&T Technology Services Ltd.(up 0.15 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, LTIMindtree Ltd.(down 1.72 per cent), MphasiS Ltd.(down 1.0 per cent), Infosys Ltd.(down 0.62 per cent), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(down 0.29 per cent) and Coforge Ltd.(down 0.08 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty IT index closed 0.19 per cent down at 30582.25.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 61.3 points at 19079.6, while the BSE Sensex stood down 237.72 points at 63874.93.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 25 ended in the green, while 25 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, JP Power, Piramal Pharma, YES Bank and IOB were among the most traded shares on the NSE. Shares of Apollo Micro Systems, North Eastern, Emkay Global, Orbit Exports and Weizmann Ltd hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while Godha Cabcon & Insul, Max Estates, Shree Ram Proteins, Yasho Industries and Balaxi Pharma hit their fresh 52-week lows.
